David Jackson's personal blog. Thoughts on economics, family, running, politics, and culture ….

About me

I’m David Jackson, based in Brisbane, Australia.

I’m interested in how institutions work, how decisions get made, and how incentives shape outcomes — particularly in economics, finance, and public policy.

Outside of work, running has been a constant. Running has shaped how I think about patience, consistency, and long-term effort.

I also have a long-standing interest in other cultures. I continue to make progress in
Japanese although it must be the slowest progress ever made. I once got to HSK2 level in Chinese (beginner) but have forgotten most of it! Time spent living and travelling in different countries has influenced how I see the world.

This site is an opportunity to post my thoughts outside of the algorithm.
